Apple is everywhere. The word conjures images of an iPhone before it does the fruit. Babies know how to swipe a touchscreen before they can walk. Siri is a household name, as is the man behind the modern-day empire: Steve Jobs.

In their book, Becoming Steve Jobs: The Evolution of a Reckless Upstart into a Visionary Leader, coauthors Brent Schlender and Rick Tetzeli depict the multiple facets of this complex man. Often characterized as a harsh and exacting boss who was kicked out of his own company in the 1980s, Jobs is now remembered as one of the greatest businessmen in history.

The book showcases some of his more tender moments as a dedicated father and motivational leader who inspired others to greatness. Schlender, a tech journalist for the Wall Street Journal and Fortune magazine, was close to Jobs who he interviewed for numerous stories throughout the years. His insight into to the man behind the brand, as well as interviews with key insiders (Disney CEO Bob Iger, Pixar President Ed Catmull) reveals Jobs’ many layers and personal tenants on life, death, and business.
