Elegance En Route

At 6 a.m., fresh off a flight from New York, wearing wind pants and a baseball cap, Adam Caldera—gracious and understated—could easily be taken for a Midwesterner. We met the international model back in February when he arrived with a team of Mall of America producers, stylists, and photographers to shoot the mall’s spring look book, “Elegance En Route.”

Even at that early hour, Caldera, a native of Sri Lanka, was thrilled to be at MSP. (“How cool is it that I know people from Minnesota now!”) Joined by the equally captivating Alejandra Cata, the pair gave new meaning to the term “airport runway.”

Mall of America Brand Content Manager Maria McGinty and her team bravely navigated airport logistics to shoot the book at MSP. “There’s something so classically glamorous about travel,” she says. “The gorgeous spaces, clean lines, light, and energy at MSP set the vibe. Its hip restaurants and modern feel were key to making our shots look fresh.”

Caldera proved a dapper shoeshine in one shot, while Cata scaled MinniBar in four-inch heels in another. “We are in love with the Minnibar shot,” says McGinty. “The Elizabeth + James jacket and skirt from Nordstrom played nicely against the tile backdrop, and the red Stuart Weitzman Lovefringe pumps popped off the white countertop.”

To stay on trend this season, McGinty recommends clean lines and neutral tones for men and gingham, fringe, and a mix of patterns for the ladies. “Women definitely have to feel a little daring to pull off these trends, but trust us—you’ll look fabulous.”
